Horse Trailer Barbeque Disaster
By Denny Tryon
Every year I return to Wyoming where my family still ranches. This year I was not able to make our branding, where I invariably end up the butt of some joke. I usually get injured in some fashion, fall off my horse, vaccinate myself, or something to that effect. This year my niece was getting married, so I went to her wedding instead of the branding. I thought I should probably remain uninjured this year, as what could go wrong at a wedding? Well, let me tell you: The first night I arrived at the ranch, a friend of the family from from Wisconsin pulled in with a giant horse trailer, and upon arriving, asked us to wake him up at about 1:00 AM so he could start roasting a giant pig that he brought as a wedding gift for my niece's wedding. So, my brother and I woke Ray up appx. one in the morning and proceeded to help him get this giant hog on the grill that was mounted inside the horse trailer. I was almost pitch black in the trailer, so in the process of lifting this huge pig onto the grill, Ray asked me to grab a flashlight that was in the front of the trailer. So I jumped towards the front, only to violently SMACK MY HEAD right into a metal crossbar, which knocked me out cold for a minute or so. This resulted in giant black and blue goose egg right in the middle of my forehead. Needless to say, I got ribbed about this the rest of the stay on the ranch and the wedding. So, I am still in keeping with my reputation for injuring myself, even at peaceful event like a wedding. |

Obviously, Denny it's the location. There's somethin' about that ranch in Wyoming that tells your brain that you MUST injure yourself by any means necessary...I guess...

-- You might have something there James. It's funny I grew up working on the ranch, and rarely got injured. It must be my city slicker approach I take now. ;)
Thank you for sharing this interesting story, Denny. Life on the ranch is still the American way to great living. Keep up the good work. Best wishes. Frederick
